Apprenticeship Scheme at Curtiss-Wright

Curtiss-Wright are looking to recruit talented people to join our Degree Apprenticeship Scheme this September in our brand new facility at Bournemouth Airport. With three Curtiss-Wright Divisions having operations in Bournemouth, there are plenty of opportunities to progress your career on successful completion of your apprenticeship. We design, manufacture and market a wide range of Curtiss-Wright engineering products and solutions from the facility, which employs over 600 people. Our entrepreneurial environment provides our employees with excellent experiences that enable them to develop their skills through stretch assignments and the opportunity to work with the best talent in the industry.

The facility was opened in 2017, and features modern open-plan working arrangements. Within the facility, the Wright Lounge is a flexible eating and working space, with a full catering offer. We have free car parking, cycle racks, showers and changing rooms, alongside outdoor eating facilities.

How It Works

As an apprentice, you will receive training from industry professionals in either of Curtiss-Wright's key segments: Industrial, Sensors & Controls or Defense. You will have the opportunity to work across multiple departments within the organisation, gaining valuable hands-on experience with our experts in both the design and manufacture of our products all whilst earning a Degree level qualification. You will work with us onsite 4 days per week and you will also attend college on a day release format in order to complete their Degree Apprenticeship qualifications. You will start this from HNC through to Degree level, depending on the qualifications on joining. The Apprenticeship training course is a total of 5 years. You will support different departments and work in a supervised environment for the majority of your Apprenticeship. You will start in September and progress through the salary scales linked to the successful completion of each year of the course.

The Challenge

  • Provide support to various departments / department leads during your training period, completing work assignments as directed by the local Supervisor.
  • Learn about products, processes, machinery, systems, culture and people through completion of the Apprenticeship scheme.
  • Provide reports, analysis and statistical data as required by local management.
  • May provide support and guidance to other Apprentices and to the HR Manager in delivering induction / hiring activities, presentations etc.
  • The successful candidate will rotate through various departments including Production and Engineering.

Required Qualifications

  • BTEC qualification, preferably in mechanical / electronics, OR 3 A Levels (minimum 3B's) with one of the subjects being a STEM subject.
  • You should have a genuine interest in electronics / manufacturing and this must be demonstrated in you CV/cover letter upon application.
