Currently, three sensors are used on each boat. SLS190s, because they are water resistant and sealed to IP66, are fitted directly on top of the drives. For remote measuring the HLP range is used, with cable fitted between the drive and the sensor.
Asked why the Penny & Giles units were chosen, the spokesman says: "We are always looking for ways to improve our systems and to upgrade. Penny & Giles sensors are specified because they are the best, most accurate and durable available."
